expression & innovation
Beth Thompson
I am an interdisciplinary artist with a focus on integrating painting, drawing, printmaking, and photography to explore both personal and collective narratives. I recently completed a Bachelor of Contemporary Australian Indigenous Art at the Queensland College of Art and Design.
As a Queer, gender non-conforming artist, I am committed to amplifying marginalized voices and highlighting stories that are often overlooked. I explore themes of gender, sexuality, and my personal journey as a neurodivergent individual, examining how these personal and social dynamics intersect with broader cultural narratives to shape my identity and creative expression.
My practice is deeply rooted in my diverse heritage as a descendant of the Wulli Wulli people, enriched by my Celtic, Germanic, and Nordic ancestry. Drawing inspiration from my ancestral histories, my work delves into the profound connection between culture and identity.
Through my art, I seek to inspire reflection, foster inclusivity, and deepen understanding of the complex layers that shape both individual identities and our shared sense of belonging. I believe art has the power to cultivate compassion and spark meaningful conversations, contributing to a more connected and empathetic world. By sharing these stories, I hope to engage in a dialogue that celebrates the beauty and complexity of the human experience.
